من أجل أن نضع في أيدي طلابنا صورة علمية لمناحي هذا الفرع العلمي واتجاهاته، يأتي ذلك العمل المتواضع، وهي محاولة نأمل لها أن تكون أكثر غنى وتطور من المحاولات السابقة التي سجلت في هذا الميدان، من أجل إعداد ذلك العمل، تجولنا في الحقول العالمية لذلك الاختصاص، وحاولنا أن نقدم من كل حقل باقة جميلة من معطياته وثماره أملين أن نقدم للقارئ الكريم ما يلبي بعضا من تطلعاته العلمية في مجال اجتماعيات التربية ولقد حاولنا في إطار هذا العمل أن نجمع بين أمرين أساسيين ونكامل بينهما، هما: أن يكون ما يقدم عبر الفصول والمحطات المتلاحقة قادرا على تلبية حاجة الطلاب في مراحل دراستهم الجامعية من جهة، ومن جهة أخرى توخينا أن يجد فيه القارئ المتخصص بعض حوافز العمل على تطوير ما جاء على متن مقولاته من أفكار وآراء من جهة أخرى.
ونحن نأمل أن يؤدي هذا الجهد المتواضع غايته في تعريف القارئ بمجالات علم الاجتماع التربوي المتعددة، وبالمسائل التي يطرحها في مجال العلاقة بين المجتمع والتربية، كما نأمل أيضا أن نلقي الضوء على ملامح التوجهات المنهجية والاتجاهات النظرية لذلك الفرع العلمي، سعيا إلى المشاركة العلمية في بناء الوعي الاجتماعي التربوي في الوطن العربي الكبير. وفي حدود الأمل أيضا نرجو لهذا الكتاب أن يكون مقدمة متواضعة لتطوير اتجاهات العمل في هذا الميدان، كما نرجو لهو أن يسجل إضافة جديدة متواضعة إلى المكتبة العربية تسجل نفسها إلى جانب المحاولات العلمية الرصينة في هذا المجال.
