إن العملية الإرشادية تقوم أساساً على المرشد وهذا ينبغي أن يتبع أسلوباً يقوم من خلاله بالتعرف على السلوك السوي وغير السوي حيث أن الحالات تختلف من شخص لآخر إلا أنه من خلال النظرية الإرشادية يقوم المرشد بوضع الفرضيات على أسباب السلوك.
