هذا الكتاب، بتحليلاته المرهفة، ومتابعاته التاريخية المحيطة، ومقترباته المصطلحية الدقيقة، ينتهي بكشوفه المعرفية، مع سلاسته وإمتاع، إلى وضع العدة بين يدي كل من يردي أن يفهم الدور الكبير الذي لعبته الفنون البصرية في تغيير الرؤية وتعميقها في حضارة هذا العصر في أوروبا وبالتالي في كل مكان.
