تنبسط موضوعات هذا الكتاب على مساحة واسعة من القضايا العربية المؤرقة على نحو يمكن القول معه إنه مرآة لجوانب من وعي عربي قلق كثير التساؤلات، مطلوب منه استدراك ما كان فات ودرك ما هو آت. بجهد استثنائي يختصر فيه المراحل، ويختزل المعطيات، ويبني الرؤى، ويسدد التوجهات. ونحن منذ أول موضوعاته وهو "متطلبات التعاون العربي في ظل المتغيرات الدولية للدكتور "ساسين عساف" في مواجهة جادة وصريحة مع دفق من التساؤلات-المشروعة المشرعة في آت-إزاء ما آلت إليه تطورات الصراع العربي-الإسرائيلي وما استقرت عليه السياسة الأمريكية في مشرقنا العربي. وهي تساؤلات تكاد تكون مسكونة بإجابات ضمنية لا يلبث أن يدرجها المحاضر في سياق تحليلي يؤكد في خاتمته أنه "إذا دخل العرب في النظام العالمي الجديد موحدي القضايا والأهداف والمناهج والوسائل تمكنوا أن يكونوا شركاء فيه لا أجراء عند أسياده" وليس يختلف الدكتور علي فخر وفي محاضره عن متطلبات العمل السياسي العربي المستقبلي "لا في الإحاطة ولا في العمق" عن الدكتور ساسين عساف. كما لا يختلف عنه في المنحى النقدي الإجرائي، سواءً أكان ذلك في مواجهة شعارات المرحلة السابقة، أم في مباشرة العمل السياسي القومي بأساليب جديدة، أم في مسألة ترسيخ الممارسة الديمقراطية في مؤسسات المجتمع المدني... وعلى حين يستولي الهاجس المعرفي على محاضرات الأساتذة: الدكتور الطاهر لبيب، والدكتور نبيل علي، والدكتور عدنان شهاب الدين، والتي تتناول بحسب الترتيب "مسار العلوم الاجتماعية في الوطن العربي"، و"الإبداع: منظور معلوماتي، والبحث العلمي في الوطن العربي على أبواب الألفية الثالثة"، ويقدم الباحثون الثلاثة أمثلة متباينة من نقد الفكر وتحليله أصولاً وناهج وأدوات، كل في مجاله، فإنه مما يلفتنا في محاضرتي الدكتور نادر فرجاني والدكتور شكري غانم، عن: "التنمية الإنسانية في الوطن العربي" و"النفط العربي وتحديات المستقبل" أنهما تقدمان رؤيتين متكاملتين لما يمكن تسميته "تلازم الأسباب" في مسألة التنمية الاقتصادية في الوطن العربي.
