كثيرة هي الأعمال اللسانية التي تناولت، في إطار دارستها الشاملة لبنية المركب الإسمي، ما يعرف بالإشاريات (Demonstratives). فهذه الأخيرة لها تمظهرات كثيرة؛ فهي في معظم اللغات ترد مع إسم عار (Bare Noun) من أداة التعريف أو بمفردها، وهذا ما ينعكس على تصورات الباحثين (أنظر بهذا الخصوص كريمرس (2003)، كبن (2001) من بين آخرين، دايسل (2003)، ومحمّد (1998).
وكإطار نظري للعمل، نتبنى في هذه المقارنة التوليدية الجديدة، التي نتناولها بالبحث، ما جاء في البرنامج الأدنوي المقترح في تشومسكي (1995،1998). متفحصين بذلك الخصائص التركيبية للإشارة العربية وإشكالاتها، من ضمنها: (أ) توزيعها وتأويلها، و (ب) طبيعتها المقولية (الإشارة بأنواعها: القبلية، والبعدية، والعارية)، ثمّ (ج) موقعتها الشجرية وتطابقها مع س(=الإسم) في عدد وجيز من السمات الإحالية (جن (=جنس) وعد (=عدد)) والسمات الإعرابية، استناد إلى العديد من الزوائز والقيود التي تزوّدنا بمقاييس تحكم الملكة الذهنية وتنظّمها. سوف لن ألحّ على القضية أبعد ما يكون؛ فالتحليل المقدّم هنا لـ"تركيب الإشارة"، له من المزايا ما يكفي للإجابة عن العديد من التساؤلات، نظرية كانت أو وصفية.
