ليس الغرض من هذا الكتاب هو ربط العلم بالدين ولكن هو تلبية لدعوة كريمة من رب كريم للنظر والتدبر والتأمل والتمتع ببديع خلقه وعظيم قدرته، وقد حاول فى هذا العمل المتواضع أن أضع القارئ العربى وغير المتخصص فى مجال الفلك على بداية الطريق، وأن يكون هذا العمل إن شاء الله هو السراج الذى يضئ له بداية الطريق حتى يستطيع أن يبحر بفكره وخياله وبحثه فى هذا الكون اللانهائى، لعل هذا العمل أن يسهم فى نشر المعرفة الفلكية للمتحدثين بالعربية، وسنذكر بعض المصطلحات والمفردات باللغة الإنجليزية لتسهيل متابعه القراءة فى المراجع الأجنبية والإنترنت.
أما عن محتويات الكتاب وهو يتكون من أحد عشر بابآ وهى (الباب الأول: تعريفات فلكية عامة، الباب الثانى: نظرية نشأة الكون والمكونات الأساسية للكون، الباب الثالث: المجرات، الباب الرابع: السدم، الباب الخامس: النجوم، الباب السادس: الأبراج، الباب السابع: المجموعة الشمسية، الباب الثامن: القمر، الباب التاسع: الملاحة فى البحار والمحيطات، الباب العاشر: ظواهر فلكية مهمة، الباب الحادى عشر: مشاهدة السماء ليلآ.
كم مرة ترصعت السماء بالنجوم التى تزين صفحتها والكثير منا لا يدرى عنها شيئآ، وكم مرة تزينت السماء بزينة الكواكب والكثير لا يعلم عنها شيئآ، ولماذا تتغير السماء من حلتها من فصل إلى فصل بل من ساعة إلى ساعة.
الأسئلة كثيرة والقائمة تطول وأرجو أن أكون وفقت فى إعطاء القارئ قدرآ كافيآ من المعلومات لكى يضع القارئ قدمه على بداية طريق المعرفة فى مجال الفلك حتى يستطيع بمفرده أن يتقدم فى هذا الطريق على المدى الذى يريده.
