كيف أضرم النار في مخيلتي القروية، لقد كان أروع الكتاب في الجريدة وأكثرهم تهتكاً. كيف قفز قلبي في ذلك اليوم الموحش، عندما رفع ذلك الأعجوبة رأسه عن مكتبه. رآني ومشى باتجاهي حيث كنت أجلس أمام آلتي الكتابة، ابتسم لي بود وكنت متأكدة ان فمي كان مفتوحاً على وسعه من المفاجأة. لقد كان يدخن سيجارة باهضة الثمن ذات فلتر ذهبي اللون.
سحبها من بين شفتيه بتلك اليد التي دائماً ما كانت ترتجف، وتركها تقع على الأرض ليسحقها بطرف حذاءه، ألقى برأسه الوسيم الى الخلف، ونفخ ما تبقى من دخان في فمه على شكل لولب هزيل.
تذكرت ما مر في ذهني وقتها، كم كانت خسارة له أن يسحق تلك السيجارة الثمينة فقط لأجلي. (اسمي أورم). قال بجدية (بيتر أورم، وإن لم يكن اسمك على الأقل شونسي أو بورك، فلا فكرة لدي ما يعنيه الشعر الأسود والعيون الرمادية).
(لا فكرة لديك بالفعل). أجبته وضحكت. (فاسمي هو أوهارا... دون أوهارا).
