يعتبر بن بريكة، أحد أشهر علماء الصوفية في الجزائر، وأحد مراجع حوار الحضارات في العالم، وترأس عدة مؤتمرات لحوار الأديان في عديد الدول.
ولد بن بريكة، في 1958، بولاية بسكرة (جنوب غرب) ونشأ في بيئة دينية محافظة، كبر أفراده على حفظ القرآن والمتون وسلوك طريق التصوف.
وحفظ القرآن صغيرا، وفي شبابه التحق بجامعة الجزائر وعمره 22 عامًا، اشتغل أستاذ أصول الدين في معهد الفلسفة بجامعة الجزائر.
جمع في دراساته بين الفلسفة والتصوف وإختارته جامعة كولومبيا الأمريكية كرجل السنة في الجزائر في 2017 ، و هو أستاذ التصوف اﻹسلامي بقسمي الدراسات والدراسات العليا بجامعة الجزائر، خبير دولي في التصوف، عضو باﻷكاديمية العالمية للتصوف والتراث بالقاهرة، عضو الاتحاد العالمي لعلماء الصوفية و يعد أصغر أستاذ في تاريخ الجامعة الجزائر ،يرجع نسبه إلى قبيلة البوازيد وهم أشراف حسنيون عمروا مدينة الدوسن ضاحية معروفة من عمالة بسكرة بالواحات الجزائرية.حصل على شهادة دكتوراه الدولة في التصوف الإسلامي بتقدير مشرف جدا مع التهاني والتوصية بالطبع,وقبل ذالك على شهادة المنهجية في البحث وشهادة الماجستيرفي نفس المبحث أي التصوف.تولى مهام عديدة منها إدارة الدراسات ثم الدراسات العليا ثم رئاسة المجلس العلمي وعضوية اللجنة الوطنية لإصلاح برامج التعليم العالي ونيابة رئاسة اللجنة الوطنية للعلوم الإنسانية والإجتماعية ,تنصب نشاطات الدكتور محمد بن بريكة البوزيدي الحسني بالداخل والخارج على التعريف بالتصوف وسبق للراحل أن تقلد منصب المنسق الأعلى للطريقة القادرية (طريقة صوفية تنسب للشيخ عبد القادر الجيلاني) بالجزائر وعموم أفريقيا.
وفي رصيد بن بريكة، عديد المؤلفات منها ”جمهرة الأعمال الصوفية“، ”الفيضة البلقائدية في الصلاة على خير البرية“، ”الصرصريات في مدح سيد السادات“ وغيرها.رحمه الله اواسكنه فسيح جناته
