الدعاء والاستشفاء به والتوسل من حيث شرائطه ومقدماته وألفاظه وأشكاله وقواعده ونتائجه وغير ذلك من خصوصيات هو علم مستقل، له أصوله وشؤونه، لكنه ليس كسائر العلوم بل هو من أشرافها وأجلها. لأنه هو نفسه المقدمة وهو نفسه المقصود وهو نفسه الوسيلة وهو نفسه العلة الغائية لأن الدعاء في نفسه تقرب إلى الله سبحانه وتعالى لأن قبول الحي القيوم عبده وحضور العبد الضعيف في حضرة ذي الجلال وساحة رب العالمين هو أعلى من كل حاجة وأعلى من كل استجابة فإن حضر في خدمة الحق كان العالم كله في خدمته...
إن الدعاء ليس وظيفة لسانية فحسب فكما يشترط في الدعاء أن يقرأ في حال السجود، أو الركوع، أو القيام، أو القنوت، أو أن يكون آخذاً بلحيته، أو مشيراً بأصبعه أو مطأطئاً لرأسه، أو معمضاً عينيه، أو جاثياً على ركبتيه أو غير ذلك من الحالات البدنية، فإنه يشترط فيه أيضاً -وهو الأهم- أن يكون الداعي والمريض المتوسل بحالة توجه وخشوع وخضوع للباري عز وجل.
