يأتي هذا الكتاب الى كل من له صلة بالأطفال العاديين والأطفال ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة ثمانية فصول:
الفصل الأول: أهداف تربية الطفل ومراحل النمو اللغوي، الأدوات والوسائل الضرورية لمساعدة الأطفال المتأخرين لغوياً، فيما ركز الفصل الثاني على المهارات الأكاديمية لمرحلة ما قبل المدرسة، القراءة والكتابة.
كما ركز الفصل الثالث على النمو الحركي، الألعاب والأنشطة الحركية، المهارات الحركية الكبيرة والمهارات الحركية الدقيقة. وبعد ذلك تناول الفصل الرابع الأنشطة الحسية، أهداف ألعاب تنمية الحواس الخمس، نشاطات لتنمية حاسة الإبصار، واللمس، والشم، والذوق، والسمع.
أما الفصل الخامس فقد تناول اللعب لدى الأطفال، وظائف اللعب، أهمية التعليم باللعب.. ولما للموسيقى والإيقاع من أهمية فقد تناول الفصل السادس الأغاني والأناشيد، أهداف التربية الموسيقية، شروط الأغاني والأناشيد.. وقد تناول الفصل السابع التربية الفنية، أهداف التربية الفنية العامة، دور المربين في التعبير الفني عند الأطفال..
وأخيراً فقد تناول الفصل الثامن الوسائل التكنولوجية الحديثة، مبررات ادخال الحاسوب في رياض الأطفال، الأطفال والإنترنت.
