لم لا نلتقي؟ يقترح عليّ "هنري ميلر" في إحدى رسائله، وبعد أسبوعين وجدت نفسي عنده، أمام فيلته البيضاء الهادئة، عند الطرف الآخر من العالم، وذلك خلال شهر فبراير من عام 1979.
مروري صادف إنتهاء الشتاء وبداية فصل الربيع، وهذا له دلالة رمزية عن العبور من أسطورة ميلر إلى ميلر بلحمه وعظمه وروحه، كنت قد دخلت عالم ميلر الأدبي من خلال باب (مدار السرطان).
وكانت بالنسبة لي رَجَّة عنيفة وأنا في العشرين من العمر، هذه الرحلة في أقاصي التفسخ، هذه اللغة الفجة والمتوهجة التي تنسحق إلى حدود الرغبة.
خلال السنوات التي تلت قرأت كل أعمال ميلر من (الوشيجة: الصلب الوردي) إلى (أرق) وتوقفت عند رائعته (أعمدة الماروسي)، بعدها كتبت له رسالة، عشرات الأسطر، أشكره فيها ببساطة على أعماله وحياته.
لم أكن أنتظر أي رد لأنه لم تخطر ببالي أية إمكانية لمحاورة ميلر، وها أنذا أحكي في صفحات هذا الكتاب عن مجمل الأحداث التي حصلت عندما كنت في ضيافة "هنري ميلر".
