يهدف الكتاب إلى تعريف القارئ سواء كان طالباً أو متخصصاً بطبيعة التدريب الإداري، ودور المنظمات المتخصصة على التدريب وخاصة منظمة المواصفات الدولية التي إضافة إلى مفهومه ودوره في تنمية مجالات وإتجاهات الفرد أو المجموعة الكثير من خلال المواصفة الدولية ISO 10015، كما يهدف إلى تبيان العلاقة بين إدارة التدريب وإدارة الجودة الشاملة، وما هي إتجاهات التدريب المستقبلية، وأخيراً وضع حالات تدريبية متنوعة في وظائف الإدارة من خلال العملية الإدارية المتكاملة.
يحتوي الكتاب على خمسة عشر فصلاً يتناول الفصل الأول: طبيعة التدريب من خلال المفهوم والأهمية والأهداف والمبادئ، والفصل الثاني: موقع إدارة التدريب على الهيكل التنظيمي للمنظمة سواء كانت منظمة من القطاع الخاص أو قطاع الدولة، والفصل الثالث: التدريب عملية ونظام إداري متكامل ومستمر، والفصل الرابع: التدريب الإداري بين المركزية واللامركزية، وكيف يمكن التوفيق بينهما، والفصل الخامس: تخطيط التدريب من خلال وضع خطة التدريب، وبيان أهدافها ووضع مراحل محددة للتخطيط الإستراتيجي للتدريب، والفصل السادس: الإحتياجات التدريبية من حيث المفهوم وطرق تحديدها.
والفصل السابع: نظريات التدريب وبيان أهم النظريات وما هي أسس ومبادئ ورواد هذه النظريات؛ والفصل الثامن: أنواع التدريب من خلال إحتياجات الأفراد والمنظمة والدولة، والفصل التاسع: أساليب التدريب الفردية والجماعية والتركيز على أسلوب الحقيبة التدريبية كأسلوب تعليمي تدريبي فردي وجماعي في آن واحد، والفصل العاشر: مراحل العملية التدريبية من تقدير الإحتياجات التدريبية وتصميم وتجهيز البرامج التدريبية وتنفيذ التدريب ومتابعة وتقييم التدريب، والفصل الحادي عشر: التدريب وإدارة الجودة الشاملة، وما هي مسؤوليات الإدارة، وما هو العائد من التدريب في إدارة الجودة الشاملة، وكيف تكون العلاقة بين إدارة التدريب وإدارة الجودة الشاملة.
