ويقع كتاب: "فن التحرير الصحفي" في عشر وحدات علي النحو التالي: الوحدة الأولي: مفهوم التحرير الصحفي وأدواته, الوحدة الثانية: السياسة التحريرية والعوامل المؤثرة فيها, الوحدة الثالثة: التخطيط لتحرير الجريدة, الوحدة الرابعة: الأشكال الإخبارية, الوحدة الخامسة: الأشكال الصحفية التفسيرية والاستقصائية, الودة السادسة: أشكال مواد الرأي, الوحدة السابعة: الأشكال الصحفية الأخري, الوحدة الثامنة: تحرير المجلة كعملية اتصال بالجماهير, الوحدة التاسعة: الأشكال الصحفية في المجلة, الوحدة العاشرة: التحرير لوكالات الأنباء ويعالج كتاب "فن التحرير الصحفي" المعارف النظرية الأساسية في مجال التحرير الصحفي, إلي جانب المهارات المهنية, ولا يغفل الجوانب الاخلاقية للممارسة.
