حنة آرنت (14 أكتوبر 1906 - 4 ديسمبر 1975) كانت منظرة سياسية وباحثة يهودية من أصل ألماني.

تحوّلت تغطية حنة أردنت لمحاكمة أدولف أيخمان، وهو مسؤول نازيّ كان متخفيّاً في الأرجنتين، إلى كتاب مثير للجدل، أعلنت وجوهٌ صهيونيّة ويهوديّة موقفاً معادياً له قبل صدوره.
أكثر من 121 جلسة جهد فيها الادّعاء لتضخيم دور أيخمان خدمة لما أراده بن غوريون، رصدتها أرندت بعين الناقد، ما جعلها متّهمة بـ "التّعاطف مع المجرم النازيّ". فقد رأت أنه "أتفه" من أن يفكّر في معنى ما يفعله، حاصراً نفسه في آليّات التّنفيذ. كما نُظر إليها بريبة بسبب انتقادها دور "المجالس اليهوديّة" وتسهيلها سَوْق اليهود إلى مذبحهم.
يرصد الكتاب محاكمةً "مشهديّة" هي أقرب إلى عرض مسرحي، وكلّ ذلك مع هامش بسيط جداً للمجازفة بصدور حكم غير متوقع.
