لا بد من وجود عدد معين من المؤلفات في أدب كل البلدان تبحث بصورة خاصة في الحب وهو موضوع يعالج بطرق تختلف باختلاف المكان، كما أنه يعالج من زوايا متعددة. وفي هذا المؤلف ترجمة كاملة لكتاب يعتبر المرجع الشامل الكامل لما كتب من الحب في الأدب السنسكوتي ألا وهو كتاب "الكاماسوترا" أي آراؤه في الحب، لمؤلف فاتسيايانا. وجاء الكتاب ضمن مقدمة وأبواب، أما المقدمة ففيها بيانات بتاريخ كتابة "الكاماسوترا" ومعالجة لما كتب عليه من شروحات. أما الأبواب فهي ترجمة للكتاب نفسه.
الغابة من تعريب هذا الكتاب الذي نشر في أكثر لغات العالم ليست الترويج الى الجنس كما يتبادر للبعض وانما لإتاحة المجال للقارئ العربي للاطلاع على رأي أمة شرقية كبيرة هي الهند في الحب والجنس والجماع. حيث أن الجنس عند الهندوس لا يعتبر فضيلة ولا رذيلة ولكنه يمكن أن يكون سبيلاً الى السمو الروحي.
هذا الكتاب مترجم حرفياً عن الترجمة الإنكليزية التي قام بها الكاتب والرحالة الإنكليزي الشهير ريتشارد بيرتون والذي عرف إنه أول من ترجم "ألف ليلة وليلة" من العربية الى الإنكليزية.
ورغم أن هذا الكتاب يبحث في الجنس فإنه لا يخدش الحياء وهو ينقل لأول مرة الى اللغة العربية باسلوب بعيد عن الإبتذال مع الحفاظ على أكبر قدر من الأمانة للنص الأساسي.
