يتناول الفصل الأول من هذا الكتاب والمعنون بـ "الواقع والخيال في الثنائية الإعلامية: نحو تأسيس فكر إعلامي حضاري متميز "الأسس التي تقوم عليها نظرية الاتصال، ويمكن للقارئ أن يلحظ المجال القيمي الذي تتحرك فيه النظرية بشكل غير مباشر في معظم الحالات، وبشكل غير مباشر في معظم الحالات، وبشكل مباشر في بعض الحالات وكذا بعض الأدوات النبوية كالتضاد الثنائي وأداة ما لك بن نبي الخاصة بتقابل "المجرد" و"المجسد".
ويختص الفصل الثاني مكان "الصورة" في الاتصال وكيف أن هذه الأخيرة أضعفت القيمة وأنتجت بنية ذهنية هشة وأبقت الثقافة محجوزة على مستوى المجرد غير المترابط مع العناصر الأكثر سمواً في الثقافة: ويتعلق الفصل الثالث بعلاقة المسموع بالقيمة والمرئي بما دون ذلك في مستويات الثقافة، يكون المرئي قد أوقف الاتقاء في مجال الثقافة إلى حين وأحدث قطيعة ابيستيمولوجية مع روح الثقافة وارتباطها بالقيمة خاصة.
ويعالج الفصل الرابع المتلقي في الاتصال وكيف أن امتزج المحتوى الرمزي الوارد مع العناصر "المشوهة" في الثقافة تحدث "مخيلا إعلامياً متبايناً عن الرأي العام والعصبية والشورى، ويبين الفصل الخامس الاتصال المحكوم بالمنظومة المؤسسية وتحوله الشكلي من "الفلكلور الثقافي المتوحش" أو المبتدئ إلى النمطية الأحادية اعتماداً على المنظور الدرامي الاستعراضي وإبعاد القيمة في الحراك الاتصالي. ويفصل الفصل الأخير ركائز نظرية الاتصال عملياً بحيث يمكن اعتمادها في دراسة وتحليل الظاهرة الإعلامية والاتصالية عندنا ولدى الآخرين.
