سيرة ذاتية في حديث أجراه معه عباس بيضون.
هكذا بدأت الكتابة... جلست وحدي أمام أحد القبور ورأيتني فجأة آخذ قلماً وورقة كانا معي، وباشرت فوراً كتابة بعض الخواطر. دون سابق تهيؤ أو استعداد، رجعت إلى غرفتي في المدرسة (منزل الطلبة) وكان اليوم يوم خميس وتاليه الجمعة وهو يوم عطلة. ويوم العطلة مناسبة يتزاور فيها الطلبة، واتفق ذلك اليوم أن زارني بعض الطلبة العامليين وبدأت أعدّ لهم الش سيرة ذاتية في حديث أجراه معه عباس بيضون.
هكذا بدأت الكتابة... جلست وحدي أمام أحد القبور ورأيتني فجأة آخذ قلماً وورقة كانا معي، وباشرت فوراً كتابة بعض الخواطر. دون سابق تهيؤ أو استعداد، رجعت إلى غرفتي في المدرسة (منزل الطلبة) وكان اليوم يوم خميس وتاليه الجمعة وهو يوم عطلة. ويوم العطلة مناسبة يتزاور فيها الطلبة، واتفق ذلك اليوم أن زارني بعض الطلبة العامليين وبدأت أعدّ لهم الشاي وحين عدت إلى غرفتي بادرني أحدهم ما هذا الشيء الجميل الذي أقرأه لك، ولم أفطن لما يقصده بادىء بدء فاستفهمته وعلمت أنه يقصد الورقة التي دونت فيها خواطري وكنت حفظتها تحت المخدة. وتابع الزميل ثناءه على القطعة وحثّني على نشرها تكراراً حتى زيّن لي الأمر فأرسلتها إلى جريدة ‘النجف’ وهي أسبوعية تصدر في النجف، وغاب عني الأمر، إلى أن ذهبت برفقة زميلي محمد شرارة ومحمد باقر ابراهيم لنتلقى الدرس اليومي. وكان من عادته أن يستقبلنا باشّاً ويمضي الدقائق الأولى من الجلسة في حديث فكه، لكنه هذه المرة استقبلنا بوجه بارد ولم يترك لنا وقتاً للمسامرة وبدا مغضباً، وأخذ يعظنا متجهماً عابساً. وحرنا في السبب في بادىء الأمر إلى أن تبيناه بعد ذلك. إذ رأينا القطعة منشورة في الجريدة، وتناهى لنا أن الشخص الذي حثني على نشر القطعة عمد بسوء نية إلى شراء أعداد كثيرة وتوزيعها على أساتذتي على سبيل الوشاية. كان سيء الطوية لكن كان له فضل أن أطلقني للكتابة وأنني صرت كاتباً.
