افسانه نجمآبادی استاد تاریخ و مطالعات جنسیت دانشگاه هاروارد در کتاب «زنان سبیلو و مردان بدونریش: نگرانیهای جنسیتی در مدرنیته ایرانی» نشان میدهد چگونه جنسیت و تمایلات جنسی همپای مدرنیته در ایران دچار تغیر و تحول شده است. این کتاب پژوهشی دقیقدر باب امرجنسیاست که بواسطه مواجهه ایران با غرب در قالب مفاهیمی چون ملت، جنسیت، وطن و علم صورتبندی جدیدی به خود گرفته است. نجمآبا افسانه نجمآبادی استاد تاریخ و مطالعات جنسیت دانشگاه هاروارد در کتاب «زنان سبیلو و مردان بدونریش: نگرانیهای جنسیتی در مدرنیته ایرانی» نشان میدهد چگونه جنسیت و تمایلات جنسی همپای مدرنیته در ایران دچار تغیر و تحول شده است. این کتاب پژوهشی دقیقدر باب امرجنسیاست که بواسطه مواجهه ایران با غرب در قالب مفاهیمی چون ملت، جنسیت، وطن و علم صورتبندی جدیدی به خود گرفته است. نجمآبادی در مطالعه خود به ردیابی آثار و بقایای به جای مانده از دوره قاجار میپردازد تا بلکه نشانی از جنسیت و امر جنسی بیابد. بدین منظور او علاوه برسفرنامه، رمان و شعر دوران قاجار، دست به دامان نقاشیها، پارچه نوشتهها و تصاویر ضربشده بر روی مسکوکات میشود. ژرفنگری نجمآبادی و قوت نظری او این کتاب را به یکی از متون جریانسازدر حوزهی تاریخ مدرن ایران، علوم سیاسی و مطالعات جنسیتی تبدیل کرده است. پر بیراه نیست اگر ادعا کنیم اثر هنرمندانهی نجمآبادی با برهمزدن تصویر غالب از دوران قاجار، ادبیات مرتبط با این موضوع را گامی به پیشبرده است. کتاب حاضر دفتر اول از کتاب «زنان سبیلو و مردان بدون ریش» است که به پیشگاه خوانندگان فارسیزبان تقدیم میشود.
