تجدر الإشارة إلى أنه وفقا لإحصاء أجرته مؤسسة كارنيجي للسلام عام 1940 عن حروب العالم عبر التاريخ تبين أنه منذ العام 1496 ق.م حتى 1861 ميلادية وهي فترة زمنية طولها 3357 عاما شهدت البشرية خلالها 277 سنة من السلام في مقابل 3130 سنة من الحروب وبمعنى آخر هناك 13 سنة حرب مقابل واحدة سلام، وفي إحصاء أحدث تبين أنه خلال 5560 عاما منذ عرف تاريخ البشرية وحتى عام 1945 حدثت 14531 حربا ب تجدر الإشارة إلى أنه وفقا لإحصاء أجرته مؤسسة كارنيجي للسلام عام 1940 عن حروب العالم عبر التاريخ تبين أنه منذ العام 1496 ق.م حتى 1861 ميلادية وهي فترة زمنية طولها 3357 عاما شهدت البشرية خلالها 277 سنة من السلام في مقابل 3130 سنة من الحروب وبمعنى آخر هناك 13 سنة حرب مقابل واحدة سلام، وفي إحصاء أحدث تبين أنه خلال 5560 عاما منذ عرف تاريخ البشرية وحتى عام 1945 حدثت 14531 حربا بمعدل حرب كل عام وكما تبين أنه خلال 185 جيل من الأجيال لم ينعم بسلم مؤقت من بينها إلا عشرة أجيال فقط وفي خلال الأربعة والخمسين عاما التي انقضت نكب العالم بما يزيد عن مائة حرب بينهما حروب اتسع نطاقها إلى درجة مفزعة رهيبة وحروب طال أمدها على الرغم من ضيق نطاقها وحروب خاطفة بلغت أقصى درجات الشراسة والضراوة على الرغم من أنها لم تدم سوى بضعة أيام أو أسابيع وهو ما يعني أن البشرية تشهد كل خمسة أشهر على وجه التقريب صراعا مسلحا عنيفا في مكان ما في العالم وغالبا ما ينجم عن هذا الصراع كوارث إنسانية مروعة وخسائر جسيمة في الأرواح والأموال والمعدات.
ومما لا جدال فيه أن القارة الإفريقية قد حظيت بنصيب وافر من تلك الحروب خاصة في الفترة ما بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية حتى الآن بل أن القارة قد شهدت حربا من أسوأ الحروب الأهلية في تاريخ العالم الحديث ألا وهي الحرب الأهلية برواندا والتي راح ضحيتها ما يقرب عن مليون شخص بين قتيل وجريح.
