يتحدث هذا الكتاب عن الخطر، الذي تشكله شركات المرتزقة على بلدان العالم الثالث، والتي يطلق عليها الشركات الأمنية العسكرية الخاصة، خطر يختلف عما واجهته في القرن الماضي من إحتلال إستعماري وغزو خارجي، فقد كانت تواجه القوات العسكرية النظامية التابعة للدول الإستعمارية الغازية، أما اليوم فهي ستواجه مرتزقة تلك الشركات، وهم المدربون تدريباً عسكرياً عالياً، يستخدمون بمهارة الأسلحة المتطورة والتقنيات الحربية الحديثة، ليقاتلوا نيابة عن جيوش الدول الإمبريالية في سبيل تحقيق مشاريعها الإستعمارية.
والسبب الذي يدفع الدول الإمبريالية إلى إستخدام شركات المرتزقة لتحقيق مشاريعها بالقوة العسكرية، فبإستخدامهم: أولاً: تجنب الإدانة الدولية، ورفض الرأي العام الدولي للغزو من دون أي مبرر، وتستطيع أن تخالف القوانين الدولية، وخرق ميثاق الأمم المتحدة.
أما ثانياً: في إستخدام شركات المرتزقة لا حاجة لها بتقديم المبررات السياسية والأمنية والقانونية حتى تشن حرباً أو غزو بلد ما؛ لمؤسساتها التشريعية وللرأي العام الداخلي.
وثالثاً: في إستخدام شركات المرتزقة لا وجود خسائر عسكرية بشرية تدفع الرأي العام الداخلي لمعارضة الحرب أو الغزو، رابعاً: إن إستخدام شركات المرتزقة شكل حلاً لإشكالية الخسائر المالية والبشرية العسكرية، التي تخسرها الدول الإمبريالية في الحروب، كما شكل حلأً لأزمة التعويض البشري، ممن يسقط من قواتها النظامية من قتلى وجرحى.
من هنا، يأتي هذا الكتاب ليدق ناقوس الخطر الذي تشكله شركات المرتزقة المسماة الشركات الأمنية الخاصة، ولتعريف أبناء الأمة ماهية تلك الشركات وتاريخها وخطورتها على حاضرهم ومستقبلهم.
