"التحرر من الكذب" هو ذروة حياه مختلفة متضعة كرست لشفاء الاخرين.
سأحاول في الصفحات التالية أن أقترب أكثر إلي أصول خسارة الذات هذه. وفيما أقوم بذلك، لن أستخدم كلمة "نرجسية". وعلي الرغم من ذلك، في وصفي الإكلينيكي، سأتحدث بين اونة وأخرى عن نوعية صحية من النرجسية، وأصف الحالة المثالية للشخص الذي هو حي حقيقة، له اتصال سهل بالذات الحقيقية ومشاعره الصادقة. وسأعمل مقارنة بين هذا الاضطرابات الناجمة عن النرجسية. وبين "الحبس الانفرادي" للذات الحقيقية "داخل سجن الذات الزائفة". وإني أعتبر هذا مرضا وليس مأساه، وإن ما أهدف إليه في هذا الكتاب هو أن ابتعد عن إصدار الأحكام، والعزل، ومن ثم لغة التمييز.
