يعد هذا الكتاب مدخلا رائعا لذلك الفرع العلمي المعروف بعلم اللغة النفسي في علم اللغة أو علم النفس اللغوي في علم النفس. ويحكي العلاقة الجدلية التي ربطت بين تشومسكي من ناحية وعلماء النفس من ناحية أخرى. تلك العلاقة التي أثرت على على اللغة وعلم النفس في آن واحد. ويحكي هذا الكتاب قصة ميلاد هذا الفرع من بدايتها لقد كانت البداية مؤلف تشومسكي الشهير المنشور عام 1957 "الأبنية النحوي يعد هذا الكتاب مدخلا رائعا لذلك الفرع العلمي المعروف بعلم اللغة النفسي في علم اللغة أو علم النفس اللغوي في علم النفس. ويحكي العلاقة الجدلية التي ربطت بين تشومسكي من ناحية وعلماء النفس من ناحية أخرى. تلك العلاقة التي أثرت على على اللغة وعلم النفس في آن واحد. ويحكي هذا الكتاب قصة ميلاد هذا الفرع من بدايتها لقد كانت البداية مؤلف تشومسكي الشهير المنشور عام 1957 "الأبنية النحوية" الذي ضرب أسس المدرسة السلوكية في علم اللغة في الصميم وطرح النظرية التحويلية التوليدية بديلا عنها الأمر الذي أثار علماء النفس الذين سيطرت عليهم تلك الأسس لفترة طويلة فراحو يجرون الإختبارات على تلك النظرية مما أدى إلى نقص العديد من جوانبها والخروج بنظريات جديدة تتعلق بإنتاج اللغة وفهمها والخطوات التي يسير وفقا لها العقل الإنساني في عمليتي الإنتاج والإدراك اللغويتين.
