كنت سأخلط القصاصات مثل لعبة ورق وأنثرها على الطاولة. أهذه هي إذَن حياتي الحاليّة؟ هل أنّ الحياة برمّتها تقتصر بالنسبة لي في الوقت الحاضر على حوالى عشرين اسماً مختلفاً وعنواناً متفرّقاً لم أكن أنا سوى الرابط الوحيد بينها؟ ولماذا هذه الأسماء والعناوين وليس سواها؟ ما كان القاسم المشترك بيني وبين هذه الأسماء والأماكن؟ كنت في حلم فيه ندرك أنّه يمكننا أن نستيقظ في أيّ لحظة، حين كنت سأخلط القصاصات مثل لعبة ورق وأنثرها على الطاولة. أهذه هي إذَن حياتي الحاليّة؟ هل أنّ الحياة برمّتها تقتصر بالنسبة لي في الوقت الحاضر على حوالى عشرين اسماً مختلفاً وعنواناً متفرّقاً لم أكن أنا سوى الرابط الوحيد بينها؟ ولماذا هذه الأسماء والعناوين وليس سواها؟ ما كان القاسم المشترك بيني وبين هذه الأسماء والأماكن؟ كنت في حلم فيه ندرك أنّه يمكننا أن نستيقظ في أيّ لحظة، حين تهدّدنا أخطار. بوسعي، إن قرّرت، أن أنهض عن هذه الطاولة، وسوف ينحلّ كلّ شيء ويتبدّد في العدم. ولن يبقى سوى حقيبة من الصفيح وبضع قصاصات من الورق خربشَتْ يدٌ عليها أسماء أشخاص وأماكن لن يعود لها أيّ معنى بنظر أيٍّ كان.
"من أقاصي النّسيان"، تحيل أجواؤها إلى سبعينيّات القرن العشرين، ما يعني أنّ "بطلها" السّارد ولدَ في عامٍ مقاربٍ لذاك الذي ولد فيه الكاتب.
