قد يكون الحب نزوة أو انفعالاً عاطفيًّا، وفي هذه الحالة،فإنه يتطلب أن نعيد تنظيم علاقاتنا على أساس ألا نسمح له أن يدمر علاقاتنا القائمة. وقد تصور د. ديك بطل الرواية أن بإمكانه أن يبرر تجاربه العاطفية بطريقة عقلية، حيث إنه طبيب أمراض نفسية، ومنذ البداية اعتاد الاستسلام لنزواته، وتزوج من مريضته التي كان يعالجها والتي أحبته، وتوهم أنه أحبها، لكنه يقع في غرام ممثلة ناشئة، فما ع قد يكون الحب نزوة أو انفعالاً عاطفيًّا، وفي هذه الحالة،فإنه يتطلب أن نعيد تنظيم علاقاتنا على أساس ألا نسمح له أن يدمر علاقاتنا القائمة. وقد تصور د. ديك بطل الرواية أن بإمكانه أن يبرر تجاربه العاطفية بطريقة عقلية، حيث إنه طبيب أمراض نفسية، ومنذ البداية اعتاد الاستسلام لنزواته، وتزوج من مريضته التي كان يعالجها والتي أحبته، وتوهم أنه أحبها، لكنه يقع في غرام ممثلة ناشئة، فما عسى أن يؤدي إليه هذا الحب في النهاية!
