ينقسم هذا الكتاب إلى قسمين، الأول يحتوي على دراسة في تطور نظرية التداوي بالغذاء عبر الحضارات القديمة، مرورًا بالتراث الطبي العربي، وانتهاءً بالعصر الحديث. والقسم الثاني تحقيق لرسالة علاء الدين (ابن النفيس) القَرَشي، التي جعلها بعنوان المختار من الأغذية وذكر فيها الأغذية الواجب تناولها في حالات المرض المختلفة، وفي حالة الرغبة في زيادة سمنة البدن أو تنحيفه، وكذلك حالة الرغبة ينقسم هذا الكتاب إلى قسمين، الأول يحتوي على دراسة في تطور نظرية التداوي بالغذاء عبر الحضارات القديمة، مرورًا بالتراث الطبي العربي، وانتهاءً بالعصر الحديث. والقسم الثاني تحقيق لرسالة علاء الدين (ابن النفيس) القَرَشي، التي جعلها بعنوان المختار من الأغذية وذكر فيها الأغذية الواجب تناولها في حالات المرض المختلفة، وفي حالة الرغبة في زيادة سمنة البدن أو تنحيفه، وكذلك حالة الرغبة في زيادة القدرة الجنسية أو قمعها.. وغيرها.. والمخطوطة التي تم الاعتماد عليها في تحقيق هذا النص، لا يوجد منها في العالم غير هذه النسخة المحفوظة بمكتبة الدولة ببرلين.
