شاعر وروائي وناقد ورسام وباحث فلسطيني.
ولد في قرية أم الزينات على السفح الجنوبي لجبل الكرمل المطل على حيفا المحتلة في العام 1948.
صدرت أعماله الشعرية الكاملة (17 مجموعة شعرية) في المحلة الكبرى، مصر، في مجلدين خلال العامين 2009 و2011 كما صدرت مجموعة أعماله الروائية الست في الجزائر عن جمعية البيت للثقافة والفنون (2009) وهي: 1- أطفال الندى 2-حدائق العاشق 3- شجرة المسرات 4- نص اللاجئ 5- أصوات الصمت 6- أم الزينات تحت ظلال الخروب وللأسعد كتب نقدية ، هي: 1-"مقالة في اللغة الشعرية" (1980) صدرت عن المؤسسة العربية للدراسات، بيروت.
2- "بحثا عن الحداثة"(1986) عن مؤسسة الأبحاث العربية، بيروت.
3- "في الفن التشكيلي الفلسطيني" (1985) عن دار الحوار، سوريا.
4- "مديح البياض: في الخطاب الفلسطيني الممنوع"،( 2015) عن دار الفارابي، بيروت.
وفي مجال الترجمة نشرت له عدة ترجمات منها: 1-مسرحية "بعد السقوط" لآرثر ملر، 1998، المجلس الوطني للثقافة والفنون، الكويت 2- واحدة بعد أخرى تتفتح أزهار البرقوق: دراسة في جماليات قصيدة الهايكو اليابانية، 1999، المجلس الوطني للثقافة والفنون، الكويت 3- ست وصايا للألفية القادمة، إيتالو كالفينو، 1999،المجلس الوطني للثقافة والفنون، الكويت.
وقد صدرت سيرته الذاتية في كتاب بالفرنسية من إعداد فرانسواز جيرمين، عنوانه "أبعد من الجدران: لاجيء فلسطيني وإسرائيلي يعودان إلى زيارة ماضيهما، دار آكت سود و سندباد، باريس، 2005.

النص.والنص التوراتي تحديدا لعب الدور الأكبر في إنتاج ماضي الشرق,وشرقنا العربي بخاصة ,فوضع تاريخه ولغاته وفنونه وآثاره المادية في سياقات غريبه لاتنتمي إليه بقدر ماتنتمي إلى صورة متخيله مستمدة من المرويات التوراتية,حتى وإن كان هذا الماضي أوسع زمانا ومكانا من تلك اللحظة العابرة في تاريخه تلك التي يفترض أنها مرحله توراتية.
وأعطت هذا الخصوصية علم الآثار في شرقنا العربي طابعا مغل النص.والنص التوراتي تحديدا لعب الدور الأكبر في إنتاج ماضي الشرق,وشرقنا العربي بخاصة ,فوضع تاريخه ولغاته وفنونه وآثاره المادية في سياقات غريبه لاتنتمي إليه بقدر ماتنتمي إلى صورة متخيله مستمدة من المرويات التوراتية,حتى وإن كان هذا الماضي أوسع زمانا ومكانا من تلك اللحظة العابرة في تاريخه تلك التي يفترض أنها مرحله توراتية.
وأعطت هذا الخصوصية علم الآثار في شرقنا العربي طابعا مغلقا وثابتا.
فهو فرع آخر غير علم الآثار,إنه علم خاص يدعى علم الآثار التوراتي ,لا تلمسه أي مكتشفات من أي نوع كان , ولاتتغير ثوابته أي خبرات جديدة مكتسبة , ولاتطورات حديثة في مجال علم الآثار
