تكمن أهمية دراسة "موقف الدولة العثمانية من مسلمي الأندلس 1492- 1566م"، في كون تلك المدة مهمة بالنسبة للتاريخ العثماني بشكل خاص، والتاريخ الإسلامي بشكل عام، لما شهدته من أحداث وتطورات، فوجد سلاطين بني عثمان الذين حكموا في مدة الدراسة بالنزاع السياسي في أوروبا، ولا سيما النزاع بين الملك الفرنسي فرانسوا الأول (1515- 1547م) والإمبراطور شارل الخامس (1520- 1558م) إمبراطور الإمبر تكمن أهمية دراسة "موقف الدولة العثمانية من مسلمي الأندلس 1492- 1566م"، في كون تلك المدة مهمة بالنسبة للتاريخ العثماني بشكل خاص، والتاريخ الإسلامي بشكل عام، لما شهدته من أحداث وتطورات، فوجد سلاطين بني عثمان الذين حكموا في مدة الدراسة بالنزاع السياسي في أوروبا، ولا سيما النزاع بين الملك الفرنسي فرانسوا الأول (1515- 1547م) والإمبراطور شارل الخامس (1520- 1558م) إمبراطور الإمبراطورية الرومانية، والصراع الديني القائم في تلك المدة، والذي أحدثه المُصلح مارتن لوثر، فرصة في ضرب أوروبا بعضها ببعض، لأجل أن يتوسعوا في أوروبا، ويثبّتوا أقدامهم فيها، فضلاً عن أن تلك المدة مهمة بالنسبة للعالم الإسلامي، لأنها شهدت سقوط غرناطة آخر معاقل المسلمين في الأندلس عام 1492م، لذلك تبنّى السلاطين العثمانيين فكرة العمل على إنقاذ المسلمين هناك، وإسترجاع الأندلس بعد سقوطها بيد الإسبان.
إن الفرضية التي حاول البحث تقديمها والإجابة عنها هي: هل إن السلاطين العثمانيين الذين حكموا في أثناء مدة الدراسة كانوا فعلاً عازمين على إنقاذ المسلمين في الأندلس؟ وهل إن السياسة التي انتهجها أولئك السلاطين كان الهدف منها إسترجاع الأندلس من الإسبان؟ وهل يمكن إعتبار الحروب التي شنّتها إسبانيا ضد المسلمين حلقة مكملة للحروب الصليبية؟
