يؤشر المعنى في هذا الديوان المشدود للحب والسلام، إلى الرسالة التي ينطوي عليها شعر مانهي؛ فهو شاعر حالم بكل شيء في الحياة، بل إن الشعر نفسه حلم لا ينتهي، هو خزنة أسرار الشاعر، ومفاتيحه لفهم نفسه والعالم من حوله. ومن أجمل صور الحلم في الديوان، التوحد بالآخر، ليس فقط رغبة في الحب، بل في التخفيف من آلامه ومشاطرته أحزانه، وهو ما يتجسد على نحو لافت في قصيدة بعنوان «لنكن شخصاً واحداً»
لا تخلو شاعرية مانهي من روح المرح والدعابة، خصوصاً إذا كان الخطاب موجهاً إلى الأنثى الحبيبة، كاشفاً عن طبيعة النساء التي تنفر من الغموض، وتريد أن يكون كل شيء واضحاً، تماماً مثل قلب العاشق، لذلك لا يراهن الشاعر على الوضوح في العلاقة، بل ينحاز إلى الأسرار، ويسخر منها في الوقت نفسه، لو شكلت حاجزاً بينه وبين قلبه، أو بينه وبين حبيبته..
تجذر مانهي، بشعره وشخصيته المستنيرة المنفتحة في الوجدان الكوري؛ فقد حافظ على تقاليد بلاده الثقافية والاجتماعية، ومع ذلك ظل نظره مسكوناً بالمستقبل، داعياً إلى التحرر من كل ما يكبل طموحات الإنسان للرقي والتقدم، فدعم حرية المرأة وضرورة تعليمها ونيل حقوقها المشروعة في المجتمع تماماً مثل الرجل، كما اقترح الزواج للرهبان البوذيين، ما داموا قادرين على ذلك، وأن تترك البوذية المعابد النائية في التلال والجبال، حتى تنخرط في واقع الحياة الحضرية للمجتمع. وظل يدعو لذلك، حتى وفاته في يونيو 1944 قبل عام من تحرير بلاده من الاستعمار الياباني.
