بعد سيجارتين وكوب شاي، شجعته فانطلق في الكلام، قال لي كلامًا حلوًا يا باشا، قال إنه لن يسرق بعد اليوم وأنه لا يعرف اسم أبيه ولا أمه وأنه سيستعير مني اسم أبي وأمي وأننا سنصبح من اليوم زوجين أخوين، طلبت منه بدلال أن يغطي عينيه بكفيه حتى أخلع ملابسي، ففعل والله يا باشا.
جلست أمامه كأي عروس بقميص نوم أحمر يجنن العقلاء، صالحتني به البنت حسنية واشترته لي من حر مالها ولم تسرقه.
عندما هدأت حركة الميدان ونام أغلب ناسه قلت له ضاحكة: "الآن يا حماطة".
