من جهة أخرى أنت تحصل على زيادات سنوية جيدة على راتبك مع بعض المكافآت الموسمية، تدفعك لأن تقنع نفسك بأن الوظيفة مهمة ومثيرة وحماسية، وبأنك مهم للشركة وهي بحاجة إليك ولا يمكنها الإستغن مرت سنوات وأنت سجين نفس الوظيفة؛ تشعر بالملل وتحس بالقنوط لأنك لا تتقدم إلى الأمام، ولا تتطور. الوظيفة رتيبة والمهام لا تعجبك. دائما تشعر بالتوتر والإرهاق.. وغالبا تستيقظ صباحا بصداع نصفي مؤلم.

لكنك تعرف، في داخلك، في قرارة نفسك، أن هذا غير صحيح؛ الوظيفة غير مضمونة إلى الأبد، والشركة لا تقدر حقا عملك. إلا أنك كذبت على نفسك كثيرا حتى بدأت تصدق كذبتك!
حسنا، أنت لست وحدك. أنا أيضا كنت في نفس موقفك وعانيت نفس ما تعانيه أنت الآن. وهناك كثيرون غيرك.
أنا أخرجت نفسي من ذلك الفخ، وأريدك أنت أيضا أن تخرج نفسك من ذلك المستنقع.
