أكتب مقدمة هذا الكتاب متوقعًا مقدمًا الأصوات التي سترتفع معترضة وهي: إما ساخرة مستهزئة بلسان بعض العلمانيين المتوهمين أن تعميق التدين يعرقل التقدم ونحن في مطلع القرن الواحد والعشرين، وإماغاضبة بسبب اختصار أحد كتب التراث بغير إبداع وإنشاء جديد.

وبهدوء تام، وبنية خالصة لإقناع كلا الطرفين، أراني أعذر أصحاب الطرف الأول؛ لأنهم ضحايا الغزو الثقافي الغربي الذي صور لهم التدين في الإسلام على نمط التدين في المسيحية، إذ كان عائقًا هناك كما يذكر الفيلسوف براتراند رسل بسبب سلطان رجال الكنيسة وحجرها على العقول، ولو أعطوا اهتمامهم للثقافة الإسلامية لتبين لهم أن التجربة المسجلة بصفحات التاريخ أسفرت عن بلوغ أمة الإسلام قمة حضارتها المشعة، عندما جمعت بين العقائد الإيمانية والعلوم التجريبية.
