امتدت الرواية على مدار 196 صفحة، وهي تحاول أن تضيء فترة من تاريخ الجزائر، حين كان الوطن لا يزال تحت سيطرة الاحتلال الفرنسي. ينطلق السرد من حادثة شكّلت منعرجا حاسما في حياة بطل القصة «نائل بن سالم» الذي أحبته امرأة فرنسية تدعى «أدريان مورياك» فقررت الهرب معه والاستقرار عنده، متخلية بذلك عن حياتها السابقة، ومن خلال هذه الحادثة، تنفتح مقامات السرد على استذكار الماضي المتعلّق امتدت الرواية على مدار 196 صفحة، وهي تحاول أن تضيء فترة من تاريخ الجزائر، حين كان الوطن لا يزال تحت سيطرة الاحتلال الفرنسي. ينطلق السرد من حادثة شكّلت منعرجا حاسما في حياة بطل القصة «نائل بن سالم» الذي أحبته امرأة فرنسية تدعى «أدريان مورياك» فقررت الهرب معه والاستقرار عنده، متخلية بذلك عن حياتها السابقة، ومن خلال هذه الحادثة، تنفتح مقامات السرد على استذكار الماضي المتعلّق بكلّ من «نائل» و»أدريان»، في شبه إعادة تأسيس حياة جديدة، وفق المعطيات الرّاهنة.
