وفي الاسكندرية كت صبيا عندما أدركت مع جيلي تلك الوطأة مع ظهور وباء الكوليرا في سبتمبر 47 .. ثم قرار هيئة الأمم المتحدة بتقسيم فلسطين في نوفمبر 47 ثم اضاب ضباط البوليس في ابريل 48 .. ثم حرب فلسطين من 15 مايو 48 لى 24 فبراير 1949 .. ثم انتشار موجة القتل و بعد (( عرابي )) .. احتلت قوات من أوروبا - وبالذات من الجزر البريطانية - بلادنا مصر .. وعرفت أجيال متعاقبة وطأة الاحتلال ..

هذا هو عالم رواية اسكندرية 47 - أو حديقة زهران - التى توالت بعدها روايات (( الوليمة )) .. و (( الجنة والملعون )) وكتابان في أدب الرحلات, وعشر مجموعات قصصية كان أولها مجموعة (( باب 14 )) .
