تناول العديد من الدراسات والابحاث التي قُدمت في تاريخ ليبيا الحديث الجوانب السياسية في بالدرجة الاول، ويليها في الأهمية الدراسات التي تناولت الجوانب الاقتصادية والاجتماعية. أما ما يتعلق بتاريخ ليبيا الثقافي فيتضح أنه لم يحظ بالاهتمام المطلوب، مقارنة بالدراسات في بقية الجوانب الأخرى. والدراسات القليلة العدد التي قُدمت في تاريخ ليبيا الثقافي غلب عليها الطابع الشمولي والواسع، تناول العديد من الدراسات والابحاث التي قُدمت في تاريخ ليبيا الحديث الجوانب السياسية في بالدرجة الاول، ويليها في الأهمية الدراسات التي تناولت الجوانب الاقتصادية والاجتماعية. أما ما يتعلق بتاريخ ليبيا الثقافي فيتضح أنه لم يحظ بالاهتمام المطلوب، مقارنة بالدراسات في بقية الجوانب الأخرى. والدراسات القليلة العدد التي قُدمت في تاريخ ليبيا الثقافي غلب عليها الطابع الشمولي والواسع، إضافة إلى غياب البُعد التاريخ فيها، وعدم الانتباه أثناء تحليل الخطاب إلى دراسة الخلفية التاريخية للشخصيات وانتمائها الطبقي. علاوة على أن هذه الدراسات لم تنصب على فترة زمنية محددة تحديدا دقيقا، بحيث يتمكن الباحث من خلالها أن يخرج بنتائج ترقى بعمله منهجيا الى مستوى الدراسات المعمقة. والفترة الزمنية التي تقع هذه الدراسة في نطاقها (1908 - 1911) فترة مهمة في تاريخ ليبيا الثقافي، نظرا للازدهار النسبي للحياة الثقافية على نحو عام والحركة الصحافية على وجه الخصوص. وتكمن حيوية هذا الموضوع في أنه يعالج قضية من الأهمية بمكان، وهي المنحى التحديثي للفئة المثقفة الطرابلسية، وبالتالي التوصل إلى نتائج يتم من خلالها معرفة تأثير الوسط المثقف على المجتمع من حيث ما طرأ من تغير على الجوانب التي عالجها أولئك المثقفون في صحافة تلك الفترة وأدبها
