إن النظرية السيميولوجية ما زالت لم تكتمل بعد، فهي نظرية متطورة باستمرار، ما إن ينفتح لها أفق جديد، حتى تلج آفاقاً أكثر اتساعاً من الأسئلة المتشابكة، لأنها تنفتح على كل مفاصل الحياة المجتمعية والأدبية والثقافية. ومن هنا يكتسي سؤال بارت أهميته: هي نستطيع يوماً أن نخلق سيميولوجيا السميولوجين؟ والتحليل البنيوي للبنيويين؟ فالسيميولوجيا مشرعة أمام كل طرح جديد، ويساهم انفتاحها على العلوم الأخرى في عدم استقراراها. ونرى في ذلك قوة للسيميولوجيا، من خلال عدم تحنيطها ضمن أنظمة تكلس سيرورة اشتغالها. فإذا كانت السيميولوجيا تتخبط بين كونها نظرية أو منهجاً، فكيف يخضع المسرح لاشتراطاتها المنهجية والنقدية؟ وكيف يمكن تحديد معنى العالمات داخل النص الدرامي والعرض المسرحي؟ ثم إن انفتاح النص اللانهائي على الدلالة كما يؤكذ رولان بارت Roland Barthes وجوليا كرستيفا Julia Kristeva، من شأنه أن يصعب من مهمة المتفرج والقارئ في اتخاذ موقف محدد من النص والعرض.
