قّلة, من بين مجموعات الرسامين, قدمت تنويعًا كالذّي قدمّه التعبيريّون. لقد جمعهم هدف أساسي واحد: أن يضعوا على القماشة مايختلج في أعماقهم من أحاسيس, لذلك عمدوا إلى تجزئة عناصر الحقيقة المرئية ليصعدوا من قوة التعبير أكثر من أن ينصاعوا إلى ما تفرضه عليهم الرؤية وحسب.
لقد وصفت التعبيرية بأنها ظاهرة ألمانية خاصة, وسمة ثابتة وأساسيّة في الروح الألمانية, إلا أن مصطلح التعبيرية, أو قّلة, من بين مجموعات الرسامين, قدمت تنويعًا كالذّي قدمّه التعبيريّون. لقد جمعهم هدف أساسي واحد: أن يضعوا على القماشة مايختلج في أعماقهم من أحاسيس, لذلك عمدوا إلى تجزئة عناصر الحقيقة المرئية ليصعدوا من قوة التعبير أكثر من أن ينصاعوا إلى ما تفرضه عليهم الرؤية وحسب.
لقد وصفت التعبيرية بأنها ظاهرة ألمانية خاصة, وسمة ثابتة وأساسيّة في الروح الألمانية, إلا أن مصطلح التعبيرية, أو مفهوم التعبيري الذاتي في الفن, لم ينشأ في ألمانيا بل في فرنسا, ففي العقد الأوّل من القرن العشرين استعمل هنري ماتيس مصطلح التعبيرية مرارًا في مناقشاته مؤكدًا على أن أهداف التعبيريّة الفرنسية تختلف كليًا عن الألمانية, ففي الوقت الذي الترزم فيه الفرنسيون بمشكلات التصميم الصوريّ, ركز الألمان اهتمامهم الأكبر على الحالات النفسية و الاجتماعية للإنسان المعاصر.
اختصارًا, فقد برزت التعبيريَة في عصر استعيض فيه عن وصف الحقيقة الطبيعية بمحاولات الفنّان إيجاد معادٍل صوريّ يمثل التجربة الشخصية البحتة.
