لقد اشتغل علي شريعتي في ميادين السياسة والاجتماع والدين. إذ شكّل الدين المؤدلج اجتماعياً عنصراً أساسياً في مشروعه الفكري، حيث قدمه بمنظور مختلف عن الاتجاهات الدينية التقليدية، إن من حيث قراءته للنص الديني أو تفسيره للتاريخ الإسلامي أو حتى في مقارباته للواقع السياسي ةالاجتماعي السائد آنذاك. ولعل ما تحويه نصوص شريعتي من رفض لتقديس الرموز، ونقد للإيمانية الشعبوية، وانتقاد لاذ لقد اشتغل علي شريعتي في ميادين السياسة والاجتماع والدين. إذ شكّل الدين المؤدلج اجتماعياً عنصراً أساسياً في مشروعه الفكري، حيث قدمه بمنظور مختلف عن الاتجاهات الدينية التقليدية، إن من حيث قراءته للنص الديني أو تفسيره للتاريخ الإسلامي أو حتى في مقارباته للواقع السياسي ةالاجتماعي السائد آنذاك. ولعل ما تحويه نصوص شريعتي من رفض لتقديس الرموز، ونقد للإيمانية الشعبوية، وانتقاد لاذع للبعض في المؤسسة الدينية، وتشكيك دائم بغاياتهم وممارساتهم، وتديمه طرحاً سياسياً لنظام الحكم ينطلق من الدين لكنه لا يقف عنده، بل يجعله مصدراً مهماً إلى جانب مصادر عدة أفرزتها التجربة التاريخية للإنسان في هذا المجال، أهمها الماركسية التي استند إليه شريعتي في مشروعه الفكري. كل ذلك يدل على أننا أمام قراءة متجددة ومختلفة للإسلام.
