وكما أن هناك جرائم في غاية الغرابة ،وقد تكون غرابتها هي التي تحير العالم وبردجة أكبر مما عليه من بشاعة وقد تكون غرابتها في التناقض بين أحداثها أو أبطالها وقد يكون سر غرابتها في تفاهه العائد من الجريمة أو عدم معقولية الدافع إليها وهناك نوع آخر من الجرائم يتخذ كل منها شكل الدعابة او المزحة أو (النكتة) فيضحك لها الناس :وقد تبلغ درجة من الطرافة بسبب سوء حظ عاثر جدا يصادف بطلها أي أنها مأساة تحولت لظروف أو ملابسات ما ألي ملهاة ويصدق عليها القول (شر البلية ما يضحك)
وهذا الكتاب يضم 500 جريمة تتراوح مابين الدموية والبشاعة والغرابة والطرافة طالما توقف عندها العالم طويلا وربما انشغل طويلا ببعضها ولا يزال.
