ISIS and Islam: Through the Eyes of a Former Muslim
When one looks at what is happening in the Muslim world today—the terrorism, suicide bombings, kidnappings, killings, beheadings, and even wholesale genocide—some observers may think that all Muslims are terrorists, which is certainly not true. However, others may also claim that ISIS is not representing Islam. Yet followers of ISIS, Al Qaeda, Boko Haram, the Taliban, and other similar Islamic movements publicly declare that there is no God but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. Wherever they are in control, they establish prayer and fasting, and adhere to even the smallest details of their religion, applying Islamic law (sharia) wherever possible, which includes the administration of harsh punishment and the use of slavery.

So how can one say that Islam is a peaceful religion? Don’t all their suicide bombings and other acts of terrorism happen under the shout of “Allahu Akbar”? Aren’t they willing to die for the sake of their religious beliefs? So how can one say that they are not Muslims and do not represent Islam?

This dilemma faces both the Eastern and Western worlds, through their media, religious and political experts, politicians, world leaders, and even the general public. This book will unveil the seeds of this dilemma and how to powerfully respond.

Since 2006, the author, Brother Rachid, has hosted Daring Question, a live Al Hayat TV program, which has broadcasted more than four hundred episodes. On his program, Brother Rachid addresses many religious topics, especially the comparison between Islam and Christianity, and he has debated sheikhs on subjects related to the Qur’an and the prophethood of Muhammad.

As a former Muslim, Brother Rachid gives a particularly insightful perspective as an insider to Islam’s worldview.
