ينفي هذا العمل حدوث استعمار عربي لإسبانيا، حيث يعتبر أن نشأة الحضارة الإسلامية في الأندلس كانت نتيجة تقبّل الإسبان لها، بسبب التقارب الكبير بين العقيدة المسيحية الأريوسية التي كانت سائدة قبل مجيء المسلمين.
لأن اعتقاد الإسبان بتلك العقيدة التوحيدية التي ترفض الثالوث جعلهم يرون في الإسلام دينًا منسجمًا مع تصوّرهم العقدي؛ مما سهّل نفوذه في وجدانهم الديني.
كما يؤكّد المؤلف بأن و ينفي هذا العمل حدوث استعمار عربي لإسبانيا، حيث يعتبر أن نشأة الحضارة الإسلامية في الأندلس كانت نتيجة تقبّل الإسبان لها، بسبب التقارب الكبير بين العقيدة المسيحية الأريوسية التي كانت سائدة قبل مجيء المسلمين.

كما يؤكّد المؤلف بأن وثائق تاريخ الأندلس أُتلفت، وأن كل ما بحوزة القارئ اليوم هي كتابات جاءت متقدّمة بعقود عن سنة 711م. لذلك يدعو إلى إعادة قراءة هذه اللحظ التاريخية برؤية ناقدة تأخذ بعين الاعتبار كل ما تبقّى من تاريخ إسبانيا الوسيط في مختلف المجالات. وهذا ما يبرّر استعانة الكاتب، وهو في خضم بنائه للنسق الحجاجي لأطروحته، بمعطيات تخصّ حقولًا معرفيّة جدّ متباينة كالجغرافيا، والهندسة المعمارية، والإثنوغرافيا، وعلم الحفريّات، وغيرها.
