"البارون المعلق" هي الرواية الثانية من ثلاثية للأديب الإيطالي الشهير إيتالو كالفينو. الرواية الأولى كانت بعنوان "الفيسكونت المشطور" وقد صدرت عن الدار. وهذه الروايات الثلاث لا يجمع بينها رابط غير أنها تجري في أماكن متخيلة، وفي أحقاب بعيدة، وأنها غير حقيقية، وقد أطلق المؤلف عليها عنوان "أسلافنا" إضافة إلى أن كل رواية تحمل عنواناً خاصاً بها ومستقلاً؛ ومدعاة ذلك، على حد قول ال "البارون المعلق" هي الرواية الثانية من ثلاثية للأديب الإيطالي الشهير إيتالو كالفينو. الرواية الأولى كانت بعنوان "الفيسكونت المشطور" وقد صدرت عن الدار. وهذه الروايات الثلاث لا يجمع بينها رابط غير أنها تجري في أماكن متخيلة، وفي أحقاب بعيدة، وأنها غير حقيقية، وقد أطلق المؤلف عليها عنوان "أسلافنا" إضافة إلى أن كل رواية تحمل عنواناً خاصاً بها ومستقلاً؛ ومدعاة ذلك، على حد قول الكاتب نفسه، أنها تمثل شجرة أنساب الإنسان الأوروبي المعاصر، حيث تبدو كل رواية منها وكأنها تعرض جانباً من حقيقة ذلك الإنسان الذي يعيش حولنا.
تحكي رواية "البارون المعلق"، التي نقدمها هنا للقارىء العربي، قصة صبي يتسلق شجرة ويمضي عبر الأغصان من شجرة إلى أخرى، يعيش فوق الأشجار، ويقرر أنه لن ينزل إلى الأرض أبداً.
مؤلف هذه الرواية لم يفعل شيئاً سوى أنه طور هذه الفكرة البسيطة والمتخيلة، ثم قادها إلى نهايتها الحتمية. وبطل هذه الرواية يمضي حياته كلها فوق الأشجار، حياة ليست أحادية الجانب بل على العكس من ذلك مملوءة بالمغامرات. إنه أشبه براهب يخترع حياة خاصة به.
أما الرواية الثالثة فهي بعنوان "الفارس الغائب" وستصدر عن الدار قريباً
