كتاب "علاج مصر الاقتصادى ومشروع بنك المصريين أو بنك الأمة" الذى كتبه محمد طلعت حرب يعد من المصادر الهامة لدراسة تاريخ الحركة الوطنية المصرية عامة وتاريخ مصر الاقتصادى خاصة، فهو يقدم عرضا لتطور الاقتصاد المصرى منذ عهد الخديو إسماعيل (1863-1879)، مبيناً ما حققه الاقتصاد من نمو ذهبت جل فوائده للشركات المالية والمصارف الأجنبية المهيمنة على الاقتصاد المصرى حتى بلغ الاقتصاد الوط كتاب "علاج مصر الاقتصادى ومشروع بنك المصريين أو بنك الأمة" الذى كتبه محمد طلعت حرب يعد من المصادر الهامة لدراسة تاريخ الحركة الوطنية المصرية عامة وتاريخ مصر الاقتصادى خاصة، فهو يقدم عرضا لتطور الاقتصاد المصرى منذ عهد الخديو إسماعيل (1863-1879)، مبيناً ما حققه الاقتصاد من نمو ذهبت جل فوائده للشركات المالية والمصارف الأجنبية المهيمنة على الاقتصاد المصرى حتى بلغ الاقتصاد الوطنى ذروة الأزمة التى لخصها فى مجموعة الجداول التى ختم بها الكتاب عن الديون العقارية وحركة الصادرات والورادات التى تكشف فقدان التوازن وتعبر عن الخلل الذى أصاب الاقتصاد المصرى.
كان الكتاب تشخيصاً لحال الاقتصاد المصرى، اعتمد فيه المؤلف على التقارير السنوية التى كان يصدرها المعتمد البريطانى فى مصر عن أحوال مصر العامة، وبعض التقارير التى صدرت عن جهات الحكومة المختصة، ووعد القراء فى نهاية الكتاب أن يقدم فى الجزء الثانى وصفة بالعلاج اللازم حتى تبرأ الاقتصاد الوطنى مما كان يعانيه من أزمات وكان العلاج بالطبع هو ضرورة إقامة "بنك الأمة"، ولعله كان يعتزم أن يقدم فى الجزء الثانى مشرعاً متكاملاً للبنك الوطنى المقترح : تكوينه ومجالات نشاطه ودوره فى تحقيق التنمية الاقتصادية وتخليص البلاد من الهيمنة الأجنبية.
