على إثر المواجهة العسكرية غير المتكافئة التي جمعت بين الجيوش الفرنسية المحكمة التنظيم والمقاتلين المغاربة، في وادي إسلي سنة 1845، والتي انتهت بانتصار كاسح وسريع للفرنسيين، قرر السلطان عبد الرحمن بن هشام (1822- 1859) إيفاد بعثة سفارية مغربية إلى فرنسا لتصفية الأجواء وتنقيتها بين الجانبين. وفي هذا السياق، وقع الاختيار على عبد القادر أشعاش عامل تطوان الشاب والوسيم ليكون سفيرا على إثر المواجهة العسكرية غير المتكافئة التي جمعت بين الجيوش الفرنسية المحكمة التنظيم والمقاتلين المغاربة، في وادي إسلي سنة 1845، والتي انتهت بانتصار كاسح وسريع للفرنسيين، قرر السلطان عبد الرحمن بن هشام (1822- 1859) إيفاد بعثة سفارية مغربية إلى فرنسا لتصفية الأجواء وتنقيتها بين الجانبين. وفي هذا السياق، وقع الاختيار على عبد القادر أشعاش عامل تطوان الشاب والوسيم ليكون سفيرا مخصوصا من سلطان المغرب إلى ملك فرنسا لوي فليب ( 1830-1848 ). وكان الفقيه التطواني محمد الصفار من بين أعضاء الوفد المغربي الذين وقع عليهم الاختيار لتشكيل البعثة المغربية إلى باريز. وبعد رحلة استغرقت أزيد من شهر، عاد أعضاء البعثة إلى المغرب، فشرع محمد الصفار في تحرير نص رحلته، وبعد الفراغ من ذلك قدمها عبد القادر أشعاش إلى السلطان في نسخة فريدة ما لبثت أن توارت عن الأنظار لمدة تجاوزت المائة والعشرين سنة، ولم يتم كشف النقاب عن وجودها إلا في مستهل ستينيات القرن العشرين حين عثر عليها ضمن محفوظات القصر الملكي بمراكش.
