يقول سبحانه وتعالى واصفاً رسوله صلى الله عليه وسلم بأفضل الصفات وأكملها "وإنك لعلى خلق عظيم" وهو صلى الله عليه وسلم خير الخلق كلهم وأعظمهم وأكملهم، زينه الله بالصفات المحمودات واصطفاه من بين الناس أجمعين مبلغاً لرسالته وهادياً لرحمته فهو الرحمة المزجاة. وقد رأى الصحابة رضوان الله عليهم النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وعاشوا معه ومستهم نفحاته الطيبة، وشملتهم فضائله، واستمدوا منه أدبهم وعلمهم وقوموا بسلوكه سلوكهم.
وقد حوت بطون الكتب أخبار الصحابة الكرام وصحيح ما ذكروه عنه صلى الله عليه وسلم حيث وصفوه لنا لنعيش معاً مع النبي المصطفى صلى الله عليه وسلم وكأننا نراه.
وفي هذا الكتاب الذي قع في قسمين يذكر المؤلف صحيح وأورد من الأخبار في شتى الكتب والمراجع والأسفار التي رواها أصحابها في صفاته وشمائله صلى الله عليه وسلم. حيث جعل القسم الأول من الكتاب لذكر صفات النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، أما القسم الثاني فهو في الجامع لصفاته من الأحاديث.
