هذاالروائي العظيم الذي مزق العذاب جسده على مدى ستين عاماً كاملة. ما عرف للطفولة معنى, ولا للشباب صبوة, وجاءت شيخوخته امتداداً لماضيه: عذاب... معاناة, أرق وقلق... إنه القدر الذي يقسو عليه لكنه يعجز عن قهره, فكان مبدعاً خلاقاً, حول آلامه إلى رجاء. إنه أشبه بحبات الحنطى تحت حجر الرحى, يطحنها لتصبح عجين خبز يسد جوع الجياع.
منذ البداية, نلحظ رغبة راسكولنيكوف التي هي ضد إرادته في ارتكاب جريمة مزدوجة. منذ تلك اللحظه, ونحن نشاركه صراعه الداخلي القائم على الإعتزاز بنفسه والاشمئزاز منها في الوقت ذاته, فأيهما يتبع؟ فصرنا أسرى هذا الصراع حتى انغمسنا كلياً في مشاعر البطل وأفعاله, وتحولنا إلى راسكولنيكوف ثان وكدنا نرتكب الجريمة معه..
"الجريمة والعقاب", رواية مبنية على أساس الصراع الداخلي عند الإنسان وخاصةً الرغبة في التعبير عن النفس وإثباتها في مواجهة الأخلاقيات والقوانين التي أوجدها البشر مما يجعلنا نحس بقلق مضن ونتساءل عن العدالة في هذا العالم وفي الوقت ذاته نتساءل عما إذا كان يحق لنا الإقتصاص من العدالة ومن الأخلاقيات.
