مثلما يعتبر تشيخوف رائد القصّة القصيرة في روسيا، فإنّ غي دو موباسان هو أب القصّة القصيرة في فرنسا وفي أوروبا عامّة بلا منازع، كانت مساهمته كبيرة في إثراء هذا النّوع الأدبي الذي كان لا يزال محتشما آنذاك وإعطائه مكانته وتفرّده المستحق. بقلمٍ غزير، رغم حياة قصيرة، إذ توفيّ عن عمر يناهز ٤٣ سنة في العام١٨٩٣، وإضافةً إلى العديد من الرّوايات والمقالات والقصائد والنّصوص في أدب الر مثلما يعتبر تشيخوف رائد القصّة القصيرة في روسيا، فإنّ غي دو موباسان هو أب القصّة القصيرة في فرنسا وفي أوروبا عامّة بلا منازع، كانت مساهمته كبيرة في إثراء هذا النّوع الأدبي الذي كان لا يزال محتشما آنذاك وإعطائه مكانته وتفرّده المستحق. بقلمٍ غزير، رغم حياة قصيرة، إذ توفيّ عن عمر يناهز ٤٣ سنة في العام١٨٩٣، وإضافةً إلى العديد من الرّوايات والمقالات والقصائد والنّصوص في أدب الرّحلات، استطاع ومن خلال أكثر من ثلاثمئة قصّة قصيرة نُشرت كلّها في الجرائد، على مدى عشريّة من الزّمن، والتّي جمعت ونشرت أغلبها بعد وفاته، استطاع أن يضع قواعدا فرضت نفسها لواقع الحقبة وبسبب مساحة الكتابة المُتاحة آنذاك، لهذا النّوع المتردّد الذي حرمته الرّواية من أخذ المكانة التي تليق به والتي كانت متربّعة عليها منذ قرون.
واقعيّة دو موباسان شديدة، دقيقة، حريصة، هوسيّة أحيانا، ساخرة، لاذعة، سوداوية وبسيطة بساطة ذلك الطّفل الذي ترعرع في الرّيف ولم يألف أبدًا لا قساوة الحياة الباريسية ولا سخفها. أراد من كلّ قصّة أن تكون صورة فوتوغرافية تنتقد المجتمع كما هو، بزيفه وغياب المبادئ فيه وجنونه ومظاهره الخادعة.
هي إذن مجموعة منوّعة من تسع قصص قصيرة ونوفيلا، لم تترجم من قبل، ولم يُحترم في تقديمها عامل الزّمن بقدر ما رُتّبت حسب الحالات النّفسية التي تتركنا عليها، من غيرة لشجنٍ لشغفٍ مرورا بالمآسي العادية للأيّام وصولا إلى الفنّ الذي تجيدُه الحياة بمهارة وفي كلّ الأحوال: السّخرية اللاذعة.
ما حكايا "غي" إلا... لقطاتُ حياة.
