جوستاف لوبون (1841 - 1931): طبيب ومؤرخ فرنسي، اهتم بدراسة الحضارات الشرقية والعربية والإسلامية. وأنصف الحضارة العربية والإسلامية، حيث أكد فضلها على نظيرتها الأوروبية.
شاعت شهرته في النصف الأول من القرن العشرين، بسبب أبحاثه حول سلوك الجماعات، والثقافة الشعبية، ووسائل التأثير في الجموع، وكان مرجعًا أساسيًّا للباحثين في علم النفس، من أشهر كتبه في هذا المجال: "سيكولوجية الجماهير" و"الجماهير: دراسة في العقل الجَمْعِي".
