ضمن سلسلة روائع المسرح العالمي التي يصدرها المجلس الوطني للثقافة والفنون والآداب في الكويت، نشرت الطبعة الثانية لمسرحيتين من أهم أعمال الكاتب العالمي برتولد بريخت هما "طبول في الليل" و"حياة جاليليو"، ترجمها الى العربية وقدم لها المفكر المصري الكبير الراحل عبدالرحمن بدوي.
ووفقا لصحيفة "المستقبل" اللبنانية كانت مسرحية "طبول في الليل" قد أبصرت النور للمرة الأولى في العام 1923. ضمن سلسلة روائع المسرح العالمي التي يصدرها المجلس الوطني للثقافة والفنون والآداب في الكويت، نشرت الطبعة الثانية لمسرحيتين من أهم أعمال الكاتب العالمي برتولد بريخت هما "طبول في الليل" و"حياة جاليليو"، ترجمها الى العربية وقدم لها المفكر المصري الكبير الراحل عبدالرحمن بدوي.
ووفقا لصحيفة "المستقبل" اللبنانية كانت مسرحية "طبول في الليل" قد أبصرت النور للمرة الأولى في العام 1923. وتتناول الأوضاع السياسية والاجتماعية والاقتصادية في ألمانيا بعد هزيمتها في الحرب العالمية الأولى في العام 1943 حول عالم الفلك الأشهر الذي أثبت كروية الأرض ودورانها حول الشمس، وبالتالي فهي ليست مركز الكون. ثارت ثائرة الكنيسة عليه فاتهمته بالكفر وحكمت عليه بالإعدام حرقاً، فاضطر للتراجع عن نظريته خوفاً من المصير المحتوم.
في هذا العمل يسخر بريخت، بأسلوب مسرحي عميق، من الجهل والتخلّف واستخدام العقيدة الدينية في غير محلها خدمة للإكليروس الذي كان يمارس السياسة بغطاء ديني. وهي في الوقت عينه، رؤية سوداء الى مصير البشرية والإنسان في ظلّ مؤسسات كبرى تطغى على العالم من دون طائل.
