نشأ الشيخ رحمه الله نشأة ً علمية فقد حفظ القرآن مبكراً وأقبل على حفظ السنة وكثرة القراءة فيها حتى أني لاأذكر أنني سألته عن حديث إلا وبين لي درجته صحة وضعفا
والشيخ يمتلك حافظة عجيبة يعرفه من جلس معه
وكان ك إبراهيم بن عبدالله بن إبراهيم الحازمي

وكان كثير القراءة في الكتب حتى سبب له ذلك ضعفا في البصر
وأذكر أنه قال لي أنه قرأ كتب جامعة الإمام محمد بن سعود الإسلامية
ابتدأ بالتأليف مبكراً منذ أن كان في الثاتوية واستمر كذلك في الجامعة في كلية أصول الدين وزامل فيها الشيخ عدالله السعد
وأنشأ دار الشربف وهي الدار التي يطبع فيها كتبه
