ولد أحمد شفيق بهجت في 15 نوفمبر 1932 بالقاهرة، وتوفى 11 ديسمبر 2011متزوج وله ابنان, حصل على ليسانس حقوق من جامعة القاهرة.
كاتب صحفي عمل صحفيًا بجريدة أخبار اليوم (1955)، ومجلة صباح الخير (1957)، وجريدة الأهرام (1958) ثم رئيس مجلس الإدارة ورئيس تحرير مجلة الإذاعة والتليفزيون (1976)..
ونائب رئيس التحرير للشئون الفنية بجريدة الأهرام منذ (1982) يكتب عمود "صندوق الدنيا" بجريدة الأهرام.
عضو نقابة الصحفيين وله أكثر من عشرين مؤلفًا دينيًا وأدبيًا، منها: أنبياء الله، بحار الحب عند الصوفية، مذكرات صائم، مذكرات زوج، أحسن القصص، الطريق إلى الله، قميص يوسف، وغيرها.
له برنامج إذاعي يومي بعنوان: كلمتين وبس

«آثرت أن أكتب لكم قصة إنسان في طريقه إلى الله، وقد بدأت القصة من الأيام الغامضة التي سبقت خلق البشرية... ثم تعرضت لموقف أَخْذ العهد، وموقف سجود الملائكة لآدم ورفض إبليس. ثم تتبعت الأيام الأولى في الجنة..
ثم انطفأ كل شيء وآدم يهبط إلى الأرض، انزوى بطل قصتنا في خلايا آدم، وظل ميتا حتى ولد ذات صباح شتائي بارد.
تتبعت بطل القصة وهو جنين في رحم أمه، ثم حين ولد، ثم حين بدأ يستقبل ا «آثرت أن أكتب لكم قصة إنسان في طريقه إلى الله، وقد بدأت القصة من الأيام الغامضة التي سبقت خلق البشرية... ثم تعرضت لموقف أَخْذ العهد، وموقف سجود الملائكة لآدم ورفض إبليس. ثم تتبعت الأيام الأولى في الجنة..
ثم انطفأ كل شيء وآدم يهبط إلى الأرض، انزوى بطل قصتنا في خلايا آدم، وظل ميتا حتى ولد ذات صباح شتائي بارد.
تتبعت بطل القصة وهو جنين في رحم أمه، ثم حين ولد، ثم حين بدأ يستقبل الوعي ويكبر..
اخترت مواقـف من حياة هذا الرجل، وهي المواقف التي كانت ترفع عنه غطاء الخيمة الترابية وتحاول إعادته إلى أصله الروحي القديم المجيد.
وأعترف: إنني استعنت بالذكريات الشخصية وبالخيال، كما استعنت بثلاثة كتب رئيسية كنت أنقل منها فقرات كاملة في القصة... إن جاز أن نسميها قصة...
ولست أعرف الآن مدى توفيقي فيما كتبته.
على أي حال... إذا رضي القراء عما يقرءونه فهذا تأثير المؤلفين الثلاثة الكبار، وإذا لم يرض القراء فهذا تقصيري..
